Go Motoring Data
Go Motoring also operates a market leading vehicle data business.
We work with several motoring websites to provide Cost of Motoring calculators, which are usually white labeled into the identity of our website partners. And we carry out bespoke Cost of Motoring work for clients such as the RAC on its Annual Cost of Motorring Review and Loughborough University.
In addition, we operate our own independent Cost of Motoring website www.motoringcosts.co.uk
We work in partnership on data with CAP and Innovation Motorconsult. CAP is the leading provider of used car, and used car forecasting data to fleets and leasing companies, while Innovation Motorconsult is market leader for Service, Maintenance and Repair data. For the first time, we have combined this data, and added other costs areas in such as interest, insurance and fuel, to bring detailed “fleet style” costing to the retail car market.
What we offer at
www.motoringcosts.co.uk
Our clear objective is to give you real and impartial data. So you can make the best, most informed decision about your motoring needs.
Cars (and vans) are expensive to buy, and expensive to run. The choice of what is on offer gets wider and wider. It’s not just the proliferation of models. It’s also whether you buy diesel instead of petrol, consider hybrid or even go “electric”. Then there is the complication of varied road tax bands depending on CO2 emitted, and the new “showroom tax”.
You may also be thinking about the whole Green Car issue. If, like us, you’d rather be running a vehicle which is friendly to the environment (and will cost you a lot less in the process) there is a special filter tool to help you select the cheapest environmentally friendly vehicles in each sector. Simply select your criteria (under a CO2 level and above an mpg level) to get a league table of cars from which you can select up to five vehicles for detailed side by side comparison.
Although, right now, you may be thinking about a new car, you might be better off sticking with the car you’ve got. There is a useful tool on this site for you to make that cost comparison.
And if you do decide to change, we have a range of services to help you through the purchasing minefield. There’s a car valuation tool, supported by CAP data, to help you price your part exchange and negotiate your new car price. And there is a tool to help you calculate the Cost of Changing, and another one to see what sort of money you can spend on a car based on your budget. When you’ve decided on a car, you can check it out to ensure finance is clear, title is good and it has not been written off previously.
Level of Data
You can either use one of our special comparison or search tools (new to used, diesel to petrol, green cars, below a CO2 level, above an mpg level or within an insurance group banding) or select vehicles within a sector to get a cost league table. From this, you can then choose up to five cars for detailed side by side comparison.
Alternatively, you may have a list of vehicles, new or used, that you want to compare. Simply go direct to "Compare Cars" or "Compare Vans" if this is the case.
You will then get a side by side comparison showing Fixed and Running costs. This can be broken down further, on payment of a small fee, to show all the cost elements – Service and repair, Fuel, Insurance, Road Tax, as well as the fixed costs of Depreciation and Interest. You can buy unlimited access to this service for a day, week or month.
Then, you can drill down further to see how Depreciation and Interest are calculated. This has the facility for you to input your own numbers. So, if you have negotiated a discounted price, you can use this; and if you are paying a higher deposit, or have a better finance deal, or will use cash, then you can change this too.
You can also drill in to the Service and Repair costing to reveal all the events and costs over the period and mileage that you plan to run the vehicle. This includes servicing costs, tyres, MOT, Cambelt replacement, warranty expiry. In short, it is a planned diary for all your future motoring events.
